Strong AI-search foundations begin with useful, accessible pages and accurate business information. Google says its AI search features require no special AI schema or extra machine-readable files.
Three labels, one useful starting point
SEO means search engine optimization. GEO is commonly used for generative engine optimization, or helping content be discoverable and understandable in generated answers. AEO means answer engine optimization, with an emphasis on direct answers to real questions.
These labels do not replace a clear website or a reliable business reputation. Start by answering the questions a customer needs to resolve before contacting you.
Make the information easy to understand
Give each important service a useful page. Explain who it is for, what the work involves, where you actually operate, and how to take the next step. Include concise answers followed by the detail needed to assess them.
Where appropriate, use structured data that accurately reflects the visible content. Link related pages, identify the business behind the advice, and cite primary sources when discussing platform policies.
- Write specific answers to actual customer questions.
- Keep important information readable without client-side interactions.
- Maintain consistent business identity and contact details.
- Use descriptive page titles and clear internal links.
Avoid promises that cannot be verified
Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode use the same core search eligibility foundations. Google does not require special AI text files or a dedicated AI schema, and eligibility does not guarantee inclusion.
Other answer systems use their own sources and retrieval methods. No provider can promise that every system will cite your business. The practical goal is accurate, useful content that people and systems can understand.
What to take away
- Build useful service pages and direct answers.
- Keep business facts consistent and support important claims.
- Treat AI visibility as an opportunity, not a guaranteed placement.
